PRUFTECHNIK Service Inc. offers a new inertial technology for measuring roller parallelism regardless of line-of-sight issues called PARALIGN. PARALIGN brings great advantages to the gravure and printing industry. The instrument produces instantaneous results, which can be used immediately to do on-site corrections, hence making downtime more productive. PARALIGN uses a series of gyroscopes that lets the instrument know a roll’s position in space. Direct access to the roll allows the user to sweep the surface and get the measurement, on both horizontal and vertical axis. Relative parallelism between the rolls can then be verified, from any given roll as a reference, meaning a single series of measurements can translate in many points of view on the roll alignment, and grant a broader perspective to the planner. Hence, it is now possible to obtain the full blueprint of roll alignment in entire sections of the line, in one single shutdown.
